Minister: over 1 400 000 citizens will have access to natural gas late 2021

"Tsalenjikha gasification, where natural gas has never been before, is a specific part of the country's large-scale state gasification program," Natia Turnava declared in Tsalenjikha.

"Today is a really special day for Tsalenjikha. A very difficult project has been implemented, as 39 km of supply pipe has been constructed in such difficult terrain, but now Tsalenjikha populations has gas and late 2021 all communities - 49 settlements in Tsalenjikha municipality will have natural gas," - said the Minister.

According to Natia Turnava, 384 settlements in Georgia will be gasified within the framework of the 2019-2021 state program and gasification rate will exceed 90% in the country, which is the highest figure.

"Since there are still settlements where we want to give access the population to the natural gas, we decided to continue gasification program and gasify another 211 settlements in 2022-2024. As a result, by the end of 2024, more than 600 towns and villages in Georgia will receive natural gas, "- said the Minister of Economy.

Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Natia Turnava presented a report on the work carried out within the framework of the three-year program on the construction of natural gas supply infrastructure.

However, Natural gas will become available in 384 villages throughout Georgia, in accordance with the Georgian Government's 2019-2021 three-year plan on the construction of natural gas supply infrastructure. Construction works within the framework of the three-year plan on the creation of natural gas supply infrastructure have been completed in 187 populated places, allowing 35,859 consumers to be connected to the natural gas network.

A total of 659 million GEL will be spent on the construction of natural gas supply infrastructure in Georgia in 2013-2021. Due to the importance of the given program, the Government of Georgia is considering the implementation of a new three-year plan on the construction of natural gas supply infrastructure, within the framework of which it is planned to provide natural gas to 211 populated places and more than 33,000 consumers.
