"Mixed vaccination is not considered in Georgia at the moment," Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia said. According to her, many countries around the world are discussing whether to inject Astrazeneca with one dose and mix with another dose of Pfizer.

"The supply of AstraZeneca will be completed shortly. There is already a plan to get doses not from COVAX, but from other sources. Hopefully, COVAX will not delay the supply either.

As for the mixed model, it is actively discussed in different countries. The data even confirm that vaccination with AstraZeneca and Pfizer may give us strong immunity.

In our case this type of model is not provided. The immunization technical group will discuss this. I do not think we will need this decision as a solution to the AstraZeneca vaccine shortage, but if WHO makes this recommendation widely, then our team of experts will discuss how much this model will work," Tamar Gabunia said.
