According to the head of the National Center for Disease Control, Amiran Gamkrelidze, more than 3.2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine will be delivered to the country in the next 4 months.

"As you know, there is a global shortage of vaccines. So far, the country has received 315 thousand doses of the vaccine, which is being administered. July-August-September-October has already been decided; there is a very high probability that more than 3 million 200 thousand doses of vaccine will be delivered," - said Gamkrelidze.

According to him, Georgia will receive several tens of thousands of doses of vaccine from the United States, but it is not yet clear which vaccine is being discussed.

"One of the supporters for us and the healthcare sector is the US Centers for Disease Control. Georgia has appeared in the US President's decision, and we will most likely receive several tens of thousands of doses of one of the American-made vaccines," said Amiran Gamkrelidze.

According to a statement made by the White House, the US will deliver 25 million doses of the vaccine to the rest of the world in the first phase. At least 75% of these vaccines should be delivered to different countries under the COVAX platform, and 25% will be delivered directly to countries that need vaccination.

CNN reports that approximately 6 million doses will be shipped to Georgia, Ukraine, Kosovo, Haiti, the Gaza Strip, Mexico, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, and Yemen.
