Half a million pensioners living in Georgia will be able to receive a cash prize of GEL 200 if they take COVID-19 jab. The relevant decision was made by the government yesterday. According to him, it is difficult to say in advance how much money will be needed for the project, as it depends on the engagement of pensioners in the vaccination process, but the project budget will be GEL 100 million in total.
"It is difficult to talk about a specific amount today. It fully depends on the engagement of pensioners in the vaccination process. There are up to 500,000 pensioners in the country, who are not vaccinated today. If those individuals decide to get vaccinated will receive a one-time supplement of GEL 200”, - said Khutsishvili.
According to the Ministry of Health, Georgia has 793,920 pensioners. According to NCDC vaccination statistics, 94,272 persons have been vaccinated in the 60-64 age group with at least one dose; in the 65-69 age group - 81,193; in the 70-74 age group - 63,840; in the group above 75 - 59,824 individuals.
As of today, over 300,000 pensioners are already vaccinated in the country.
