According to Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Anaklia Deep Water Port is important for the country, because the more such regional projects will be in Georgia, the more quality of security will increase.
As Turnava told reporters after the cabinet meeting, the Anaklia deep-water port project will definitely be implemented, but the government will discuss the issue after the investor’s term expires.
“I always say let's try to wait until the formal deadline, when I am asked about Anaklia. Because the investor has the right to fully use that term. As for the future prospects of the project - one thing is clear, the project is of strategic importance. On the one hand, this is important for our economy and the corridor, we clearly need deep-water port infrastructure, on the other hand, it is a strategic project for our security, as there are more regional projects in Georgia, the more secure we are and the quality of our security increases. Therefore, the construction of the port will definitely start, the project will definitely be implemented, and what structure we will be discussing when the investor's official deadline expires,” Natia Turnava said.
