"In order to hold inflation, we are taking even unpopular steps, which in turn prevent economic growth," Economy Minister Natia Turnava said in response to a question about the rising inflation in November.

According to Natia Turnava, the government is doing everything jointly with the National Bank, to avoid the inflation burden on a large part of the population.

She also notes, the government will be able to maintain economic growth with various levers, such as: privatization, fossil reform and employment promotion.

"Inflation is our biggest challenge for our economic policy. We value it realistically, we know how hard it is for the population. Our top priorities are poverty reduction and inclusive growth. Our economic policy, including the National Bank, is arranged so to hold inflationary processes as much as possible. The NBG adequately responds with the unpopular steps, that are even a deterrent to the economic growth. However, we also have leverage for economic growth encouragement, such as privatization, fossil reform, employment promotion, etc”.
