From today, Georgia has opened its land borders. Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, spoke about the need to tighten the rules when receiving visitors.

He noted that at today's meeting of the Coordinating Council, they presented some recommendations on how to receive visitors in order to prevent the growth of infection rates.

"The risks of spreading the infection must be overcome as much as possible, the control must be tightened on all incoming people, I mean the added PCR test in case of double vaccination and also the PCR test on the third day after arrival. Today we made other recommendations to the council, which may come into force in 2 weeks. I can not tell you in advance what the recommendations are, but it all comes down to more monitoring and oversight of incoming people to minimize the entry risks of infected people or to identify and isolate people in a timely manner.

It is clear that the borders are opening and there will be a tourist season in the country and this is very important for the economy, but we must ensure the risk of future epidemics as much as possible," - said Amiran Gamkrelidze.
