A total of 130 420 road motor vehicle registrations were recorded in Turkey in March 2021. The number is 71.8% higher as compared with the previous month and 81% more as compared with the same month of the prior year. With 13.9% Fiat was the most popular brand, while white was the dominant color, sharing over 40%.
In March, compared with the previous month, the number of road motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 117.8%, 87.2%, 61.0%, 56.4%, 52.7%, 47.3%, 34.2% and 30.0% for minibusses, cars, motorcycles, special purpose vehicles, small trucks, trucks, buses and tractors respectively, reads the recent data of the TurkStat.
Regarding the vehicle registrations in March, cars accounted for 61.3%, followed by motorcycles 15.4%, small trucks 13.8%, tractors 5.7%, trucks 2.6%, minibuses 0.5%, buses 0.4% and special purpose vehicles 0.3%.
The number of road motor vehicle registrations in March 2021 as compared with March 2021 increased by 183.5%, 134.2%, 86.6%, 84.8%, 74.7% and 67.4% for special purpose vehicles, trucks, small trucks, cars, tractors, motorcycles respectively while it decreased by 15.6% and 9.5% for minibuses and buses.
The total number of road motor vehicles registered reached 24 454 396 at the end of March. Cars represented 54.4%, small trucks 16.3%, motorcycles 14.5%, tractors 8.1%, trucks 3.5%, minibuses 2.0%, buses 0.9% and special purpose vehicles 0.3% of total number of road motor vehicles registered.
In terms of the distribution of trademarks for the new registered cars in March, Fiat recorded 13.9%, Renault 11.4%, Volkswagen 11.3%, Toyota 9.4%, Skoda 5.9%, Hyundai 5.7%, Peugeot 4.9%, Honda 4.3%, Dacia 3.5%, Kia 3.3%, Citroen 3.3%, Nissan 3.1%, Mercedes-Benz 3.0%, Opel 3.0%, Ford 2.7%, BMW 2.4%, Seat 2.4%, Audi 2.3%, Volvo 1.1%, Land Rover 0.5% and the other trademarks 2.6% of the total.
In January-March period, compared to the same period of previous year, the number of registered vehicles increased by 47.3% and became 323 635 while the number of withdrawn road motor vehicles decreased by 15.2% and became 11 836. Hence, in the period of January-March the increase in motor vehicles registered became 311 799.
Within 197 236 cars registered to traffic in January-March period, 40.1% of them were white, 28.7% were grey, 10.3% were blue, 7.6% were red, 6.6% were black, 2.2% were orange, 1.4% were brown, 0.6% were yellow, 0.4% were green and 2.2% were in other colors.
