"Unfortunately, in case of activation of Omicron, it has the opportunity to increase the number of active cases in Georgia to 100,000 in one period of time," said allergist-immunologist Bidzina Kulumbegov.

According to him, this means that even in the case of reduced hospitalization, about 10,000 people will need to be hospitalized, which will lead to a resurgence of hospitals.

"It is practically impossible for our country to manage this," Kulumbegov said.

Representatives of the medical field even say that the medical staff is tired during these two years, which poses additional problems.

The first two cases of omicron were detected in Georgia today. The most dangerous feature of the new strain is its rapid spread.
