“Covid pandemic is nearing to its end,” Georgia’s Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili said at the briefing following Intergovernmental Coordinating Council.

Significantly reduced hospitalization rates, daily infection cases and mortality, were named by the minister as the main positive trends currently observed in the country in terms of epidemilogic conditions.

“We are nearing the end of the pandemic since the hospitalization rate is significantly reduced, together with the daily cases. As of today, the number of people who are being treated in the hospital is below 800. Mortality has also been greatly reduced, with record-low 7 cases today,” minister Azarashvili says.

Today, the government announced on lifting most of the Covid-related restrictions. Pursuant to officials, wearing a face mask in outdoor spaces will no longer be mandatory across Georgia starting Monday, March 28. Wearing masks in indoor spaces, including public transport, will remain mandatory.

Several other changes were also introduced, including lifting of quantitative restrictions on public catering facilities and social events, termination of remote working, and scrapping of mandatory self-isolation for Georgians who are returning to the country without PCR test results.
