During 2022, the Parliament continued to work on improving the regulatory framework. In 2022, the Parliament adopted 298 laws, - Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said while presenting the 2022 activity report and the 2023 action plan of the Parliament of Georgia at the plenary session.

As Papuashvili pointed out, the new laws adopted by the Parliament in 2022 better protect rights.

According to him, the Parliament of Georgia adopted the 2023 State Budget of Georgia, according to which the funding for the population's healthcare, social protection, pension, defense, environmental protection and agriculture, education, infrastructural projects has been increased.

"The new laws better protect consumer rights, promote women's empowerment and combat gender-based violence, and create many new opportunities in agriculture, education, security, environmental protection, culture, health and other sectors. The Parliament of Georgia, together with the Government, contributed to the double-digit economic growth in the country by creating the appropriate legislative framework. It should be noted that on December 15, 2022, the Parliament of Georgia adopted the 2023 State Budget of Georgia, according to which the funding for the population's healthcare, social protection, pension provision, defense, environmental protection and agriculture, education, infrastructural projects has been increased. This means better conditions, better standards, higher quality and better access for our population in these areas. Also, we adopted a legislative package that will enable Georgia to integrate into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). This is an important step forward for Georgia on the path of integration into the common European economic space, and after the completion of the mentioned process on the part of the European Union, everyone, especially representatives of the diaspora, will be able to make transfers with significantly reduced bank costs. The amendments made to the Labor Code of Georgia will improve the socio-economic situation of employed parents and their children taking maternity leave. From January 1, 2023, the maximum amount of assistance for pregnancy, childbirth and child care leave has been doubled and has become GEL 2000", Shalva Papuashvili said.
