Out of 22,200 registered pregnant women, 9.7% were vaccinated once and 6.8% were vaccinated twice, - said Lela Shengelia, Head of the Department of Maternal, Child and Reproductive Health of the National Center for Disease Control.

According to her, pregnant women in our country should be vaccinated only with the "Pfizer" vaccine.

"As for the trimester, according to a recent recommendation from the various Centers for Disease Control, vaccination is allowed in any trimester and women should be vaccinated as soon as possible. It is advisable to finish the vaccination before the third trimester of pregnancy because much more complications are expected in the third trimester," Shengelia said.

According to her, there is no evidence to suggest that vaccination against Covid-19 infection is linked to an unwanted outcome of pregnancy.

"On the contrary, the covid infection itself increases the risks of premature pregnancy, stillbirth, etc. Vaccination reduces the negative outcome during pregnancy. We must remember that vaccination is protection for both the pregnant woman and her fetus,” Shengelia explains.
