The Government of Georgia is working on an additional package of measures to support businesses and citizens. Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia held a working meeting with the Government's Economic Team and the Governor of the National Bank on this topic today.

As reported by the press service of the Prime Minister, the head of the government noted that given the global pandemic and the resulting economic crisis, which is reflected in Georgia, it is clear that the steps taken by the government several times in terms of business and social support are no longer enough.

"During the meeting, they discussed the measures that can be taken under the 4th phase of the anti-crisis plan, which will address both social and business support, in accordance with the dynamics of the economic situation in the coming period.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of aid at this stage in the fight against the epidemic so that the available resources are evenly distributed to all sectors of the economy and citizens who need help the most in the current situation.

The meeting also focused on the country's economic situation and the effectiveness of the government's measures within the three phases of the anti-crisis plan.

The discussion focused on monitoring ongoing programs, including subsidizing utility bills, which will last from the beginning of the current month, for 4 months, until the end of February.

The meeting also focused on the country's financial sector. The discussion emphasized that banking portfolios maintain growth dynamics due to the government's support measures, including support programs for the development sector. It was also noted that the National Bank has effectively implemented temporary banking supervision measures related to the crisis," the statement said.
