Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declares that no one is as deeply interested in easing restrictions as the government.
The PM believes maintaining balance is paramount in lifting restrictions as quick relaxation could result in another lockdown.
"We have a serious opportunity to implement the plan a little faster, but it is very important to open schools and municipal transport at the first stage. We are doing everything to restore municipal transport and allow children in-person learning. Then we have to open sectors of the economy, including tourism. We have completed to work on the plan. We will take wise and consistent steps in order the country to receive the first tourists early summer and late spring. But, we should not hurry," said Giorgi Gakharia.
The PM notes, that he understands well to the representatives of the restaurants and tourism sector, but notes that the government must think about the long-term results.
"I understand very well to the employees of restaurants, hotels, tourism, but we must take care of the long-term result. Every person in this country has freedom of expression and it is protected. No one can restrict the right of anyone to express their opinion. It is our duty to take care of the citizens’ health and long-term opening of the economy," he said.
