The U.S. Secretary of State has already arrived and started holding meetings. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo will meet with President Salome Zourabichvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, Minister of Foreign Affairs David Zalkaliani, and Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church His Holiness Ilia II. Pompeo will also meet with representatives of Georgia’s civil society.
He commented on his visit to Georgia in a Twitter post: "Thrilled to be in Tbilisi. The United States and Georgia have a strong relationship built upon our shared commitment to freedom and independence. We are committed to helping Georgia deepen its Euro-Atlantic ties and strengthen its democratic institutions."
