Power generation in Armenia up 16.7 percent

In the first quarter of 2022 power production in Armenia grew by 16.7% from the first quarter of 2021 to about 2.5 billion kWh, according to the National Statistical Committee.

It said thermal power plants accounted for about 1.2 billion kWh, a 40.4% increase, hydroelectric power plants produced 318.2 million kWh (a 22.5% decrease), and the nuclear power plants produced 924.5 million kWh (a 9.6% increase).

Wind power plants produced 1 million kWh of electricity (80.1% growth), and solar power plants - 35.8 million kWh (2.7 times growth), ARKA reports.
