Today, the Prime Ministers of Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine addressed a letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in which they asked the EU to support the Eastern Partnership countries in providing the vaccine against Covid-19.

The Prime Ministers underlined the immediate assistance provided by the European Union to partner countries since the beginning of the pandemic in the fight against Covid-19 and the social and economic challenges posed by the pandemic.

The letter emphasizes that at this stage, mass, safe vaccination is crucial in defeating the pandemic. Accordingly, the prime ministers of the three countries are asking the European Commission to extend its "vaccine sharing mechanism" to the Eastern Partnership countries, which, along with vaccines from other sources, will help them replenish their stockpiles of vaccines in a timely manner. The Heads of Government expressed their readiness to continue working with the European Commission in this direction.
