Taron Chakhoyan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Deputy Chief of Staff, denied today the rumors circulated by the opposition mass media alleging that Pashinyan will resign.

Earlier, a deputy speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Ishkhan Saghatelyan from the opposition Hayastan alliance told a May 9 rally of supporters that the country needs to form an interim government of national consent, which, after solving a number of urgent problems within 1-1.5 years, will have to organize free, fair and competitive elections to form a government.

"I have to disappoint Ishkhan Saghatelyan, who talks with a serious face about holding early elections. There will be no early elections and no resignation of the Prime Minister," Chakhoyan wrote on his Facebook page.

"Those who spread false rumors about the Prime Minister's resignation and early elections will rather see the back of their heads, than Pashinyan's resignation," he said.

The opposition accuses Pashinyan of planning to place Nagorno-Karabakh under Azerbaijani control, ARKA reports.
