Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze spoke about the recently intensified problems and challenges of public transport and promised the population that public transport in the capital would be the fastest, most accessible and most comfortable.

He noted that Tbilisi City Hall is consistent in the implementation of the transport policy in order the infrastructure to meet the increased demand for vehicles.

"I promise the public transport in our city will be the fastest, most comfortable and most accessible. It is precisely because of the important infrastructural work, no one avoids and denies that it is an inconvenience. Yes, it is uncomfortable, because two important intersections - Ketevan Dedopali Avenue and Melikishvili Street have been dug up and the most important works are underway to make these streets comfortable for the population. Works will be completed very soon and this problem that we have in terms of movement today will be solved", said Kaladze.

According to him, there have always been traffic jams in Tbilisi. As he notes, the movement of public transport on Tamar Mepe, Tamarashvili and Didi Digomi was regulated by bus lanes arranged there.

"Yesterday, we could not serve about 100,000 passengers. This is a very large number, but the most important thing is that we know why it failed. Believe me, when we finish these works, public transport will be the fastest, most accessible, and most comfortable," said Kaladze.
