Public vs. Private: Which Sectors Showed the Highest Growth of Monthly Earnings in 2019?

In 2019, the average monthly nominal earning of employees in the public sector was 237.4 GEL lower than the non-public sector employees – Geostat reports.
 
As compared to 2018, however, the average monthly earnings increased by 9.1% in the public sector, while it increased by 4.1% in the non-public sector, and totaled 973.7 and 1 211.1 GEL, respectively.
 
As for the business sector, here in 2019, the average monthly earnings of employees increased by 5.5 percent and equaled to 1 161.7 Gel. According to the economic activity, the highest monthly earnings were observed in the professional, scientific, and technical activities (2 104.5 GEL, increased by 10.2%) and in the construction (1 641.8 GEL, increased by 5.2%) sectors.
 
Finally, in 2019, the average monthly earnings of employees in the non-business and financial sector increased by 6% compared to the previous year and equaled 1 068.5 GEL. According to the economic activity, the highest monthly earnings were observed in the financial and insurance activities and the public administration and defense sectors.
 
Tbilisi and Adjara A.R. are leading regions by the average earnings.
