Natural gas consumption increased by 23% y-o-y in 7 months of the current year, - according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia(Geostat).

As of the statistics, gas consumption in Georgia amounted to approximately 1.7 billion cubic meters in January-July 2022. In the corresponding period of last year this figure stood at 1.4 billion cubic meters. Of this, approximately 327 million cubic meters were consumed by thermal power plants.

99.4% of Georgia's demand for natural gas is imported from foreign countries. Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov wrote on "Twitter" that in 8 months of the current year gas export from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 12% to 1.7 billion cubic meters.
