Tea plantations of 1,024 ha has been rehabilitated by the end of November 2019 as a result of the state Rehabilitation Program of Georgian Tea Plantation, approved by the Georgian government in 2019.
BM.Ge requested information from the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Agreculture.
According to the Agency, GEL 2.5 million was invested in the rehabilitation of tea plantations under the program, of which the Agency has co-financed GEL 1,775,488.
In addition, 49 applications have been approved under frame of Georgian Tea since the launch of the program in November 2019.
To Note: the goal of "Georgian Tea" is to make effective use of the potential of tea plantations in Georgia, to support the growth of local tea (including bio-tea) production, thereby increasing self-sufficiency and increasing export potential.
