Georgia's Trade Deficit Amounted to US$ 4 663.4 MLN In 2020

External merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 11 347.7 million in 2020, 14.8 percent lower year-on-year. The value of export decreased by 12.0 percent reaching USD 3 342.1 million, while the import decreased by 15.9 percent and amounted to USD 8 005.6 million. The trade deficit equaled USD 4 663.4 million and its share in trade turnover constituted 41.1 percent. 
 
According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, external merchandise trade of Georgia during the recent five years was as follows: turnover in 2015- US$ 9 508.4 M, export – US$ 2 204.2 M, import – US$ 7 304.2 M, 2016 - US$ 9 459.0 M, export – US$ 2 117.1 M, import – US$ 7 341.9 M, 2017 – US$ 10 802.4 M, export – US$ 2 745.7 M, import – US$ 8 056.6 M, 2018 – US$ 12 741.3 M, export – US$ 3 379.7 M, import – US$ 9 361.6 M, 2019 - US$ 13 315.4 M, export – US$ 3 798.4 M, import – US$ 9 516.9 M and in 2020 – US$ 11 347.7 M, export – US$ 3 342.1 M, import – US$ 8 005.6 M.
