Average annual tuition fee for Georgian students abroad varies from EUR 10,000 to EUR 15,000. Business Administration and Management leads the list of the most popular degrees among Georgians at foreign universities. Overall, the global pandemic has significantly reduced the number of educational tourists from Georgia.
Pursuant to education consulting center PRIME STUDY, the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin is the leader among the five most popular universities among Georgian students in the 2020-2021 academic years. It is followed by: Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) - Milan, Italy, IESEG School of Management - Paris, France, Lund University - Lund, Sweden and Kyoto University of Advanced Sciences - Kyoto, Japan.
“"The annual tuition fee at these universities is in the range of 10-15 thousand Euros," Davit Mikeladze, the Founder of PRIME STUDY, told BM.GE.
Business Administration and Management, which is the most in-demand degree is followed by Engineering, Architect and Design, Computer Sciences and Psychology.
Like other businesses, Covid-19 had a negative impact on the performance of PRIME STUDY. "Number of applicants this year drop by over 30% in comparison with the previous year," said the Founder of PRIME STUDY.
In Mikeladze’s words, many educational tourists have reconsidered their plans primarily for health reasons. He said that the economic crisis following the pandemic and the weakening of the purchasing power of the GEL should also be taken into account, which, of course, creates additional hindrances for those wishing to study abroad. Of particular note are the travel restrictions to be taken into account by students who, despite the current situation, still travel to study abroad.
According to the founder of PRIME STUDY, the first shock of the pandemic, to some extent has been overwhelmed by our society and the whole world. Consequently, his expectations for the 2021-22 academic years are quite positive.
