Fatma Seren Yazgan, Turkish Ambassador to Georgia has assessed current and future projects in Georgia. According to her, the most important and interesting issues in Georgia today are Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and freight traffic. According to her, it doesn't matter which port will be developed, as the main thing is to master the burden fully that enters the country.

“Georgia is our strategic partner and we are implementing many projects jointly. For example, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway will serve as an important corridor. Development of ports is also very interesting. We know about the Poti Port Expansion Plan, but the key here is no specific location. The main thing is the cargo turnover, which accounts for Georgia.

Georgia is similar to Turkey with its transit functions. You have to play the role of mediator and get some income. Long-term investment is needed for that. Specific projects are less important, the main thing is to increase the overall volume of Georgia's ports, which is also affecting for the region", the ambassador said.
