"Rustavi 2" is broadcasting as a member of a new Media Holding

In March 2021, Georgian broadcasting channel"Rustavi 2" and media company "Prime-Time" announced the establishment of a joint holding. According to the national business register, the parties have set up a joint-stock company - "Media Holding", which has received digital and general TV broadcasting authorization from the Communications Commission.

According to the Legal Registry of the Communications Commission, 90% of shares in the JSC "Media Holding" is owned by the "Prime-Time", and 10% of the shares are owned by the Broadcasting Company "Rustavi 2".

The joint stock company "Media Holding" was registered on February 12, 2021 with aim to create a new broadcasting holding. In the begining the only shareholder of the company was "Prime-Time", and from March 15, 2021, a 10% shareholding of "Rustavi 2" was registered in the company.

On March 17, Paata Salia, CEO of Rustavi 2, said that as a result of the channel's reorganization, the station's efficiency would increase and its television shows would become more diverse.

According to the Legal Registry of the Communications Commission, Media Holding's authorization also includes the right to broadcast "Comedy Channel" and "Marao".

According to the business registry "Prime-Time" is co-owned by Tamar Pkhakadze and Giorgi Kutateladze, who have  50% -50% of the company. 100% of "Rustavi 2" is owned by Georgian businessman Kibar Khalvashi.

Businessman Kibar Khalvashi became the owner of "Rustavi 2" as a result of the July 18, 2019 decision of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
