Georgia Reports 4 734 New Cases of COVID-19 and 3 895 Recoveries

As of today, 4 734 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at a press-briefing held today at the Government Administration.

He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 in Georgia.

“Within the scope of intensive testing 20 959 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 13 166 were antigen-based and 7 793 PCR.

As of today, 4 734 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 174 383 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.

3 895 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 145 287.

Unfortunately, 38 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since February 26 the total death toll has reached 1 614.

Out of 4 734 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 1 637 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 489 – in Adjara, 823 – in Imereti, 328 – in Kvemo Kartli, 381 – in Shida Kartli, 93 – in Guria, 377 – in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 384 – in Kakheti, 143 – in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 73 – in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 18 – in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 27 456, out of which 6 900 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 3 025are stationed in Tbilisi, 998 – in Adjara and 1 325 – in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 1 147 patients, out of which 537 are based in Tbilisi, 159 – in Adjara and 247 – in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 406 patients, out of which 215 are stationed in Tbilisi, 31 – in Adjara and 52 – in Imereti. 3 689 individuals are placed at COVID Hotels, out of which 1 158 are based in Tbilisi, 1 846 – in Adjara and 393 – in Imereti. 16 867 individuals are treated at home.

1 126 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 302 are located in Tbilisi, 204 – in Adjara and 27 – in Imereti.

In total, 20 109 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine spaces in the period of October 6 through December 7, 2020.

At present, 51 430 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 20 183 are based in Tbilisi, 10 441– in Adjara and 5 409 – in Imereti” announced Berdia Sichinava.
