Minister of Health Ekaterine Tikaradze explains the reasons for the delayed arrival of "AstraZeneca" additional doses in the country and the consequent shortage of vaccines.

Georgia was waiting for additional doses of the vaccine through the international COVAX Platform on June 22. "It has been confirmed that Georgia will receive another 43,000 doses of Astrazeneca vaccine on June 22, which will mainly be used to vaccinate the second dose," said Amiran Gamkrelidze, director of the National Center for Disease Control, on June 15.

Today, Ekaterine Tikaradze said that the delay took place independently of Georgia.

"Our international partner, in particular UNICEF, stated that the needs for doses of Astrazeneca that Georgia should have received, unfortunately, were not met by the manufacturer, and we were informed about the delay on time," the minister said.
