"We will not face any problems linked to the realization of tangerine this year," Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili told BM.GE. According to him, up to 1000 t of tangerines have been exported to different markets at this stage, the price varies from 60 tetri to 1.5GEL.

“Over 1,000 t of tangerines have been exported at this stage. Products’ quality is better this year comparing to the previous year. We hope that we will not have problems with the realization. It is expected that as peach and grape harvesting process is completed successfully, this season will be good for citrus crops.

We were largely dependent on the traditional markets – such as Russia and Ukraine. Interest is grown towards Georgian tangerines in Belarus as a result of the carried out works. Logistical issues will be settled there and Georgian tangerines will occupy their place in that country as well. We have solved the tasks related to packaging, delivery and today, Georgian products are presented on the market with a modern way. Also, product samples have been sent in the EU countries including Poland and we have been successful. The directions of the Persian Gulf and Central Asian countries will also be increasing and will facilitate diversification,” Davitashvili said.
