Active Works For Tourism Recovery Brought USD 258 MLN To The Country In May – Deputy Minister

"We have a particularly successful outcome in terms of tourism recovery in May - our country received more than USD 258 million in tourism revenue, which means that tourism has recovered by 95%, compared to the same period in 2019," said Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili.

Georgia has received USD 258 million from international tourist visits in May 2022, which is 250.4% more compared to the same month of last year, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said on Friday.

Revenues from international tourism have also recovered by 95.6% compared to the pre-pandemic 2019.

In the first five months of 2022, revenues from international tourism reached USD 840 million, which is a 374.5% increase year-on-year and 75.3% recovery from the pre-pandemic 2019 number.

Last month Georgia hosted 359,238 international travelers, posting a 49.7% recovery from the pre-pandemic 2019 figure and an increase of 228.5% year-on-year.
