Vehicles of 522.5 million USD were re-exported from Georgia during10 months of 2019, the rate is 63% more comparing to 2018. As a result of the growth, vehicles are on the second place in the whole export basket, after copper ores (which is mainly also re-export). It should be noted, that 17.2% of total exports accounts for vehicle.

According to Geostat, vehicles have been Georgia's leading export commodity until 2014. In 2007 – 2013, turnover from vehicles has been increased 10 times from 70 million USD to 700 million USD in 2013. Consequently, the number of car dealer has increased and thousands of people have been able to earn a living by exporting cars abroad.

At the end of 2014, demand for cars fell sharply due to the currency crisis in Georgia and the region. It has been added by the introduction of the Euro 4 standard by Azerbaijan and the accession to the Customs Union of Armenia. As a result, car dealers stockpiled cars that they could not sell.

The effects of the crisis have been mitigated in several years and since 2018, vehicles have become one of the largest export commodities.
