Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the National Center for Disease Control, does not rule out possibility of using the resources of retired and currently unemployed but certified doctors to fight covid-19. He said this at a Facebook press conference.

According to him, up to 19,000 doctors and about 17,000 nurses are employed in Georgia now.

"In total, we have 27,000-28,000 certified doctors in the country who have medical education and are not employed today due to various conditions. It is desirable to retrain them. Some of them have retired, while others are not working due to various conditions," Amiran Gamkrelidze said.
