Fuel imports have increased slightly, however consumption remains declined

According to the Union of Oil Product Importers, fuel imports have not changed in the first five months of this year compared to the same period of the last year, but its consumption is significantly declaimed, by 20% on an average.

According to the Union, the import of gasoline and diesel fuel in Georgia amounted to 86.0 thousand tons in May 2020, which is 17.5 thousand tons or 25.5% more comparing to the previous month (68.5 thousand tons) and 0.8 thousand t or 0.9% more comparing to the same period of the last year (85.2 thousand tons).

In January-May 2020, the import of gasoline and diesel fuel in Georgia amounted to 398.9 thousand tons, which is 5.3 thousand t or 1.3% less comparing to the same period of the last year (404.2 thousand tons).

Including, the import of gasoline to Georgia amounted to 41.1 thousand t in May of this year (an increase of 1.4 thousand tons or 3.5% compared to the same period of the last year) and the import of diesel fuel - 44.8 thousand t ( decrease compared to the same period of the last year by 0.7 thousand t or 1.5%).

According to the countries, in January-May 2020, the largest volume of gasoline and diesel fuel has been imported from Russia - 136.6 thousand tons, which is 34.2% of total imports. Then come: Romania - 73.4 thousand tons (18.4%), Azerbaijan - 65.3 thousand tons (16.4%), Turkmenistan - 46.7 thousand tons (11.7%), Bulgaria - 31.6 One thousand tons (7.9%); Greece - 17.3 thousand tons (4.3%), Kazakhstan - 17.1 thousand tons (4.3%), Turkey - 9.1 thousand tons (2.3%) and etc.
