According to the head of the National Center for Disease Control, in case the World Health Organization delays the authorization of the Chinese vaccine Sinopfarm, the process of immunization with Sinopharm in Georgia will not be delayed.

As Amiran Gamkrelidze stated at the briefing after the visit to Kvemo Kartli, in response to a question from journalists, registration for a vaccination with Sinopharm in Georgia will start on April 27.

"On April 26, the World Health Organization will convene a committee to authorize vaccines. Only 2 vaccines are authorized by WHO today - Pfizer and AstraZeneca. Chinese vaccines will also be licensed on April 26 - Sinopharm and on May 3 - Sinovac, Moderna will also be licensed. Johnson & Johnson and Novavax have applied for authorization.

WHO authorization is very important, but Sinopharm with its various international authorizations is used in 35 countries today, so it is the decision of the Pre-Immunization Board that we start registering on Sinopharm from April 27th. The authorization of the vaccine may be delayed for some time, but it will not stop the immunization process, ”Amiran Gamkrelidze explained.
