Russian agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said it will consider imposing restrictions on imports of dairy products from Armenia due to poor control and violations of restrictive measures by the Armenian side, Armenian ARKA reports with reference to Prime news agency.

It said Armenian dairy plants use raw milk produced by the enterprises of Iran, in relation to which the Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed restrictive measures.

"Rosselkhoznadzor invited the Armenian Food Safety Inspection Authority to discuss by March 31st the possibility of further supplies of dairy products from Armenia to Russia. Consultations will be followed by consideration of restrictions to be imposed on supplies of dairy products from all dairy processing plants of the Republic of Armenia," Rosselkhoznadzor said in a statement.

The watchdog said an inspection conducted by its specialists on March 20-24, 2023, revealed that Armenian dairy plants use raw materials from Iranian enterprises, which are banned to supply products to Russia.

Rosselkhoznadzor asked the Armenian Veterinary Service to suspend certification of dairy products exported to Russia from the two inspected enterprises and also informed the Armenian Food Safety Inspection Authority about inadmissibility of violation of veterinary legislation in force in EEU.

"The Rosselkhoznadzor is especially concerned about cases of inclusion of enterprises of third countries in the registers of the Customs Union without the agreement of the Russian side or contrary to the official refusal sent to the competent services of the EEU member states," the agency added.
