Russia Was The Major Exporting Market For Georgia In January

The National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) published a document on Domestic Exports of Georgia. In January 2023 the exports of Georgia (excluding non-declared exports) equaled USD 459 billion.

In January 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by domestic exports in the total domestic exports of Georgia amounted to 86.2%. The top partners were Russia (USD 76.7 million), China (USD 28.5 million) and Turkey (USD 27.5 million).

TOP Trading Partners ByDomestic Exports

1. Russia - USD 87.8 million, an increase of 105% compared to the previous year
2. Armenia - USD 69.8 million, an increase of 235% compared to the previous year
3. Azerbaijan - USD 51.9 million, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year
4. Kazakhstan - USD 32.8 million, an increase of 433% compared to the previous year
5. China - USD 31.7 million, an increase of 14% over the previous year
6. Turkey - USD 31.3 million, an increase of 14% compared to the previous year
7. Bulgaria - USD 25.7 million, a decrease from the previous year -48%
8. Spain - USD 19.2 million, an increase of 332% over the previous year
9. Peru - USD 17 million, an increase of 461% compared to the previous year
10. Kyrgyzstan - USD 16.5 million, an increase of 1,031% compared to the previous year.

Accordingly, 16% of exports accounts for the EU, 60% to the CIS, 24% to other countries.

In January 2023 copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 68.1 million, or 26.3% of total exports. The exports of ferroalloys totaled USD 50.8 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 19.6 percent. The exports of nitrogenous fertilizers occupied the third place, standing at USD 20.8 million and constituting 8% of the total exports.
