The Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili confirms that a cargo ship loaded with sanctioned oil products entered the Batumi Port and noted that the customs authorities did not give consent to accept the cargo.

“Today, sanctioned oil products entered Batumi Port. We have studied the documents and therefore the customs authorities make the decision responsibly. In Georgia, there have been no cases of sanctions being circumvented, or sanctions being violated. Someone may want to import products to Georgia, but Georgian agencies act with maximum responsibility.

The customs authorities did not give any consent to accept such cargo. Therefore, without the consent of the customs, no matter what the port wishes, the cargo will not be able to pass Georgia and will not be able to enter the customs space of Georgia, "- said Davitashvili.

The sanctioned Russian cargo has entered Batumi Port under the Turkish-flagged tanker "Esenka", the tanker is in the Batumi oil terminal. According to TV-company Matavari Arkhi, the ship is loaded with up to 30,000 tons of oil products of the Russian sanctioned company "Rosneft".
