Thromboembolism is one of the complications of Covid-19, - Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, told TV Pirveli while talking about the suspension of the AstraZeneca vaccine by European countries.

According to him, it is not true that other COVID-19 vaccines cannot have thromboembolic complications.

Amiran Gamkrelidze says that the British regulator is one of the strongest regulators, which gave the authorization to "AstraZeneca".

He also explains that according to the data, the number of thromboembolic complications per 100,000 vaccinated people does not exceed the number of thromboembolic cases in the non-vaccinated population.

"The hypothesis that the vaccine causes thromboembolic complications cannot be confirmed," Gamkrelidze added.

He also explained that all vaccines have side effects, including fever, hyperemia or pain at the injection site. However, the most dangerous thing is the acute allergic reactions, that is why the patient is examined before the vaccination.

Vaccination with AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is temporally halted in some European countries.
