Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization, is visiting Georgia. He held the first meeting with the Minister of Health, Ekaterine Tikaradze.

After the meeting, the sides held a press conference. Georgian media representatives asked the guest what he advised Georgia regarding easing restrictions from December 24, while many European countries are tightening measures before the New Year.

"In March, Lockdown meant a complete halt. Back then, all the countries were shocked by the virus's spread and decided to go into lockdown. We tried to save people. Today we have more knowledge, and we can manage to protect ourselves from the spread of the virus. But you need to maintain balance, which is a very delicate matter.

We must take measures to suppress and stop the virus. We must also think about the mental health of people and the increased facts of domestic violence. People are losing income; children with disabilities can not get help with the help of digital technology. There is no right or wrong approach here. The balance must be maintained based on the relevant scientific findings that are being made in Georgia," Hans Kluge said.
