Tbilisi City Hall starts implementation of Solid Waste Management System. Mayor of Tbilisi City Hall talked about it at the government meeting.

According to Kakha Kaladze, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has already allocated a sovereign loan of 500 000 EUR. The consortium, which will create a relevant document, is already selected by the tender. it should be noted, that the tender was announced by the EBRD.

“It is a very important document for the city, based on European experience, to provide a long-term view of what coherent steps should be taken to meet the obligations under national law and the Association Agreement with the European Union", the Mayor noted.

According to him, separation bins are already located in different districts of the city, though this is insufficient.

“We want the document to be processed throughout the city, according to which we will start implementing the project directly. We want to present the best examples of developed countries. In addition, at a previous government meeting, I discussed the problem of the existing landfill - that is gas collector equipment. Moreover, we hold active communication with the business and we will develop a project to convert the generated gas into electricity and then it will be used for the city”, said Kakha Kaladze.
