Startup Healthy Cake is launched in Tbilisi, the confectionery operates now online and offers customers desserts made from low-calorie sweeteners and natural products.
Founder of Healthy Cake, Natela Gogsadze has several years of experience in producing healthy desserts. According to Gogsadze, she started a small dessert business while living in Uzbekistan and successfully cooperated with fitness centers and food outlets. After moving to Tbilisi with her family, she decided to continue her favorite business.
"My desserts are distinguished, as they do not contain sugar and wheat flour, they are also low in calories and can be eaten by anyone who follows a healthy lifestyle and adheres to a diet. Our product line includes sugar-free desserts, low-carbohydrate, gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan desserts. One of the main issues we focus on is the caloric content of desserts. In addition to information on the amount of calories, proteins, fats and carbohydrates are on the label of Healthy Cake. The customer can get full composition of the dessert by scanning the QR code,” said Natela Gogsadze.
According to her, the investment in the business at the moment is not high as the primary necessary equipment and ingredients are brought from Uzbekistan.
"We try to define our pricing policy so that consumers with different incomes can buy healthy desserts. Therefore, the cost of each sugar-free dessert is from 4 to 17 GEL. We also have cakes at a fixed price, though with the option of decoration and stuffing.
There is virtually no competition in this segment in Georgia, as the production of healthy desserts requires large amounts of money and knowledge. You cannot just remove the sugar from the dessert and call it healthy. You need to understand the relationship between proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Unfortunately, there is not much demand for healthy desserts in the country and it takes time for consumers to get acquainted with it," - said the founder.
It should be noted that after appearing on the market, Healthy Cake actively negotiates with fitness centers.
"We also plan to develop cooperation with cafe-restaurants and fitness centers. In the future we are thinking of producing educational masterclasses. For the future, we want to implement Healthy Cake project in Batumi”, Natela Gogsadze told BM.GE.
