Subsistence Minimum hit a record high in August, - preliminary data show from Statistics Office of Georgia.
According to the report, subsistence minimum of a working-age male amounted to GEL 221.1. On the one hand it indicates to the price increase. For comparison, subsistence minimum increased by GEL 2.8 compared to July, while the index is grown by GEL 38.8 y-o-y.
The increase in the subsistence minimum is related to the high inflation, as inflation hit a record high in the country for the last 10 years and amounted to 12.8%.
As of May, the subsistence minimum for "average consumer" is GEL 195.8, which is GEL 2.5 more than in the previous month, while the growth totals to GEL 34.4 y-o-y.
