The Ministry of Health has approved the minimum requirements and characteristics of consumables (coronary stent, crystal, orthopedic endoprosthesis) to be used during surgical services.

As a result of the change, within the state program of universal healthcare, all medical institutions providing services are obliged to use only materials with international standards, FDA, MDR or CE certificates. According to the Ministry, the amendments will be applied to the surgical services performed from May 1.

"By defining European and American standards for consumables, the Ministry provides quality medical services to citizens.

In addition to consumables, international standards and regulatory issues for medical equipment will be determined in 2023. And from 2025, all doctors are involved in the state program of universal health care.

International accreditation will be mandatory for the institution. The goal of the reforms is to introduce international standards, provide quality medical services to the citizens and strengthen quality control mechanisms," the Ministry of Health said.
