Taxi fares have been somehow stable in Tbilisi through the recent years, in the range of 3%-4%. But, after introduction of the major part of regulations imposed for taxis, serves fares hit a record high and increased by 12.9% y-o-y.
According to database of Sakstat’s annual price index, taxi fare was one of the fastest growing commodities and services in October 2019.
Taxi fare increased by 5.77% in October comparing to September, 2019.
It should be noted that average cost of taxi travel has been almost unchanged in the city through 2012-2016. Moreover, it had been less volatile on the overall price change (inflation), which meant that its real value was decreasing.
