Tbilisi City Hall Plans to Acquire 200 Buses with a Loan of 65 MLN EUR

Tbilisi City Hall plans to spent the largest volume of sum – 1.3 BLN GEL in 2020. At that, 1.1 billion GEL is the City Hall budget, 65 million EUR (215 million GEL) is a loan allocated by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The City Hall will spend this sum on acquisition of 200 new buses. Irakli Khmaladze, Vice Mayor of Tbilisi City Hall has declared to BM.GE. that the City Hall’s priority will be renovation of city transport and making capital expenditures.

“We will submit draft budget, which will be 1,020,000,000 GEL. Supposedly, this sum will be increased up to 1,100,000,000, including the loan allocated by the EBRD. The sum is 65 million EUR equivalent to 200 million in national currency. The upper ceiling of the implementing projects in Tbilisi through 2020 will be 1,300,000,000 GEL. Including, 50% is current expenditures, while remained sum is 500,000,000 – 600,000,000 GEL. Expenders are not declined in social direction, the budget is planned on 338,000,000 GEL and the figure is increased by 2,000,000 GEL comparing to this year. The main priorities of the budget are renovation of transport infrastructure. Our goal is to replace 650 buses by new ones in Tbilisi.

We will still continue rehabilitation process of the streets, including Tsereteli Ave, Vazha-Pshavela, as well as Gudiashvili str. and Purtseladze str. Rehabilitation of historical and damaged buildings will be also continued”,- Irakli Khmaladze says.
