The government will start the process of selecting a new investor for the port of Anaklia. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili made this statement at the government meeting yesterday. Garibashvili noted, that commissioning of a deep-water port always would be a priority for the country.
Financier Vasil Revishvili told Business Course, that the country is not ready systematically to implement the project at this stage.
"The country is neither ready nor very willing to make quality investments, especially in such large projects. This is due to a variety of reasons, including investors’ protection, economic prospects, socio-political and economic stability. The shortcomings of the judiciary system must be always mentioned.
The country is not ready systematically. Therefore, I think that this process will be prolonged, but I hope that in parallel we will start working to eliminate the problems, which will lead to the completion of this important project,"- said Vasil Revishvili.
