The highest risk of money laundering in Georgia is in the gambling business, - this is stated in the Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Risk Assessment Report approved by the Government of Georgia.
According to the report, the risk of money laundering in the gambling business is “medium to high”. As for other sectors, the risk of money laundering has been estimated as “medium” in banking sector, tax service providers, real estate market.
The risk of money laundering was assessed as "medium to low" in microfinance organizations, brokerage firms, securities registrars, currency exchange booths, leasing services, trading with precious stones and metals, legal services;
The risk of money laundering was assessed as "low" in the insurance sector, credit unions, notary services, accounting and auditing.
As for the risk of financing terrorism, the risks are generally low here.
The Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Risk Assessment Report was prepared by the Council of the Government of Georgia, headed by the Minister of Finance of Georgia.
