The more people are vaccinated, the easier it will be to get through the "fifth wave" and we will no longer have "Black August" - said the head of the National Center for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze at a media webinar.

According to him, the "fifth wave" is expected in the second half of November and the first half of December.

"The more people are fully vaccinated, the less chance there is for the virus to mutate and forge new strains. This is our main expectation that the "fifth wave" will not be heavy. The more people are vaccinated, the less likely it is that the "fifth wave" will be severe, which is to appear in November-December. Thus, the more people are vaccinated, the less destructive the 'fifth wave' will be and we will no longer have 'Black August' or 'black November-December,'" Amiran Gamkrelidze said.
