On December 16, 2021, Papuna Lezhava, Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, officially took over the position of Chairman of the Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and Eastern Europe (BSCEE).

The National Bank of Georgia became a member of the Group in 2013 and has been actively involved in its work since then. The BSCEE Group brings together 25 countries from Eastern and Central Europe and aims to promote closer cooperation between the banking supervisors of the member countries. According to the rules of the Group, the chair country is elected from its members every year. Georgia first chaired the Group in 2018, and then again was elected as one at the BSCEE Annual Conference on May 27-28, 2021.

It is important that next year, in addition to performing representative and organizational functions, Georgia will host the 2022 BSCEE Group Conference.
