The NBG Governor Met Mr. Jihad Azour

The governor of the National Bank of Georgia, Koba Gvenetadze, held a working meeting with Mr. Jihad Azour, the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The parties discussed the economic situation of the country and the challenges in the region at the meeting.

Koba Gvenetadze introduced the reforms carried out by the NBG, as well as the current macroeconomic trends to Mr. Jihad Azour. The governor also talked about the measures implemented by the NBG in response to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the conversation touched upon the "Supporting Program" (Stand-By Arrangement) approved by the Board of Executive Directors of the IMF.

Within the framework of the working visit, the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will hold meetings with representatives of the Georgian government, diplomatic corps, international financial organizations, non-governmental organizations and the civil sector. Also, Jihad Azour and Koba Gvenetadze are scheduled to meet with students, where they will talk about the challenges in Georgia and the region, the effects of the war in Ukraine, and the global economy.
